Biography

James C. Shipley received his B.A. in Philosophy in 1976 from the University Of California at Irvine, and his J.D. from the University of Oklahoma College Of Law in 1979. Mr. Shipley has since practiced Workers’ Compensation Defense for almost 40 years, representing insurance companies, self-insured employers, government entities, school districts and homeowners. Jim has handled thousands of Workers’ Compensation cases, including high value, complex cases, and has extensive trial experience.  Jim has had a strong appellate practice and has presented oral argument five times before the California Court of Appeals. Jim has been on the Board of Directors of the Legal aid Foundation of Santa Barbara County for the last 10 years and has served as President of the Board. He also chaired a Committee that successfully presented and advocated  passage of a $25 million dollar elementary school bond in Santa Barbara.
